First Glimpse at Sherlock Season 4

The cameras are rolling, the baby is crying, the fans are all screaming, and according to the powers that be, we will have a fresh, new season of Sherlock come January 2017.

The first official images are trickling out, promising confusion, drama, and a droopy-faced dog. This first hint of the new season is a bittersweet experience, as it may very well be the last. The series is notorious for having the most strained shooting schedule in the industry thanks to the ever-rising popularity of its cast. It doesn’t help that the showrunners are both involved in other major projects as well, particularly the infamous Mr. Moffat. Mark Gatiss, the show’s other lord and master, has hinted that the story of Sherlock and Dr. Watson may well be coming to its “climax.” This sounds exciting. And dreadful. And very, very sad. And considering who is running the show, this is quite fitting.

Meanwhile, we have a few pictures to study, pick apart, and then carefully glue back together, but it’s unlikely we’ll discover the mysteries that plague Mr. Holmes until next January.
