The Richmond Steampunk Salon

RSS_colors_smallThe newly founded “Richmond Steampunk Society” in Richmond, Virginia have taken it upon themselves to found a new monthly Steampunk Salon, much like the great Cincinnati Steampunk Salon. Starting with October 2015, the Richmond Steampunk Salon will meet the first Saturday of every month, excluding Jan 2016. This new salon takes place at “New York Deli RVA” a great little bar and restaurant in Richmond’s happening Carytown neighborhood. New York Deli is the oldest continuously operating restaurant in Richmond, first founded in 1929 and in its current location since 1936. With a clearly steampunk inspired logo, the owner of New York Deli was very excited to host this event and he proclaims his own interest in Steampunk. They even have a model of the Hindenburg hanging above the bar!

In addition to the monthly Steampunk Salon, New York Deli also hosts a weekly game night and the Richmond Steampunk Society have been promised a reserved table there for playing Steampunk themed board games. Their game night has been happening for quite some time, they play board games, RPGs and all manner of other tabletop games. The game night is every Sunday night starting at 7PM. We hope that once Richmond has a larger steampunk community, that we can take New York Deli up on their offer of a weekly reserved Steampunk board game table.

Richmond Steampunk Society was founded by Caelyn Nagle and Hanah Tikvah, the founders of Cincinnati’s own Clan of Teks. You may see a resemblance in their logos. Caelyn and Hanah were forced to move to Richmond for work and they were unable to find any organized steampunk groups there. They missed the Cincinnati Steampunk Salon, so they decided to found their own. Richmond Steampunk Society is an extension of the Clan of Teks and retains its post apocalyptic backstory and shares its website.
