The Midwest Steampunk Alliance Project

Back in 2009 when I co-founded the social network site Steampunk Empire, the main purpose of the site was to connect new Steampunks with local groups of other Steampunks. As part of this mission, Captain Anthony La Grange of the Airship Archon and I formed the Ohio Steampunk Society to further unite the various airships and steampunk groups in the Buckeye State; this then grew into the Midwest Steampunk Alliance which encompassed Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. Okay, technically Kentucky is not in the official Midwest and is considered part of the South, but in Cincinnati we border with the Blue Grass State and consider it an honorary member of the Midwest . . . and technically our Cincinnati Steampunk Salon is now held in Northern Kentucky just across the Ohio River. The project to create a directory of all the Steampunk Groups in the Midwest saw a revival with the original Steampunk Symposium site in 2012, but it still did not get enough altitude to fully fly, but two year’s later we feel confident that we can make it work this time.

Midwest SP Banner 1

Perhaps to start with, we need a new banner; I’ll confess that I threw this one together rather quickly and will willingly bow to someone with better artistic ability than me . . . but more important than a banner we need YOUR information!

2014 MWSP needs you 250x250In an effort to promote the Steampunk Community through out the Midwest we want to create the definitive directory of all Steampunk groups in Midwest. We would like to list a profile of your airship or group, feature an article on the group, and help promote local events that your group is hosting . . . we want to help you get more people coming to your meetings.

To join the directory, just visit www.MidwestSteampunk.com, click on your state, and then fill out the form at the bottom of the page. Once we have the information we shall compile a profile, run it as a featured article, and list it in the directory . . . after that, if you wish, your communications officer can actually become a Pandora Society contributor and write posts to promote upcoming events and meetings that you have planned.

We look forward to hearing from you and sharing your group with others.
