Award winning and acclaimed editors and authors Sarah Hans and Maurice Broaddus talk about short fiction; what works, what doesn’t, and how to break in.
Sarah Hans is an award-winning editor, author and teacher, as well as the Communications Officer aboard the Airship Archon. Sarah’s short stories have appeared in about a dozen publications, but she’s best known for her multicultural steampunk anthology Steampunk World, which appeared on io9, Boing Boing, and Entertainment Weekly Online and won the 2015 Steampunk Chronicle Reader’s Choice Award for Best Fiction. Maurice Broaddus has been published in Lightspeed Magazine, Weird Tales, Apex Magazine, Asimov’s, Cemetery Dance, Black Static, and many more with some of his stories collected in The Voices of Martyrs. He is the author of the urban fantasy trilogy, The Knights of Breton Court trilogy. He co-authored the play Finding Home: Indiana at 200. His novellas include Buffalo Soldier, I Can Transform You, Orgy of Souls, Bleed with Me, and Devil’s Marionette.
