This week The Pandora Society had reports from Steampunk gatherings from three different cities in the USA, we had details of the Symposium Bookstore, more macabre history from Dr. Pembroke, we broke a HUGE announcement that Frenchy and the Punk AND The Men Who Will Not Be Blamed for Nothing will be playing at the Cincinnati Steampunk Salon, we celebrated a special Blade Runner birthday, and a whole bunch more . . .


Monday, January 4th, 2016

On January 4th, 1903 one of Thomas Edison’s film crews captured the death of Topsy the elephant, who was electrocuted, on film and then history attributed the death to Edison, we brought you the Cincinnati Steampunk Salon – January 2016 Report and announced the winner of the Symposium Lifetime Membership contest, and we announced the 2016 Author Program at the Symposium Bookstore for this April.


Tuesday, January 5th, 2016

The Prague Conference on January 5th, 1912 saw the coming together of many Russian BolsheviksM. Leigh Hood brought us a stress free preparation guide to this year’s extensive list of Pandora Society events, and CaelynTek filed the January 2016 Report from the Richmond Steampunk Salon in Virginia.


Wednesday, January 6th, 2016

On January 6th, 1839, Ireland suffered devastation under what became known as “The Night of the Big Wind” (Irish: Oíche na Gaoithe Móire), Dr. Pembroke took us on a tour of the mass graves that lie under Paris in “The Empire of the Dead,” and we opened up vendor applications for the 2016 Voodoo Carnival.


Thursday, January 7th, 2016

January 7th, 1894 granted William Kennedy Dickson the first patent on motion picture film technology, and it was not long before he was producing highly profitable films for Peep Show machines. Phoebe Darqueling brought us the short film Tea Time, set in the late 1800’s, in a world that holds inventors in the highest regards, except for the film’s protagonist Elizabeth. The day ended with a HUGE announcement for Steampunks in and around Cincinnati, Ohio for May 7th, 2016 when both Frenchy and the Punk AND The Men Who Will Not Be Blamed for Nothing will be playing at a very special Cincinnati Steampunk Salon!


Friday, January 8th, 2016

January 8th, 2016 is the birthday, or rather Incept Day, of Blade Runner‘s “villain” Roy Batty, Chris Pavesic gave us a report on the Asylum Steampunk Festival in Britain, and we published a preview of what games and contests to expect in this year’s Symposium Games at the International Steampunk Symposium.


Saturday, January 9th, 2016

January 9th, 1816 saw the invention of a safe gas lamp for minors, Katie Lynn Daniels reviewed the new Shannara show on MTV, and Cindy Spencer Pape brought us a report of A Very Gatsby New Year when several Airships and Steampunk groups from Michigan got together for a party.


Sunday, January 10th, 2016

On January 10th, 1810 Joséphine and Napoleon were divorced, we revealed the 2016 Voodoo Carnival posterand then it was time for the Sunday Summary 🙂
