So what did you miss this week?

This is a “special” edition of the Sunday Summary as we are covering TWO weeks rather than just the usual one. The International Steampunk Symposium, April 7th-10th, 2016 was AMAZING, but it has had a knock on effect on this website in that most of our writers have been recovering from the event this week. We did, however, manage to pull together a decent collection of articles these past two weeks, and here’s what you might have missed.

Alice DoorMonday, April 4th, 2016 started with a call to buy your tickets for the Symposium as we extended the 20% discount for another 48 hours, we added Mad Hatter Hat Crafting for Kids and Alice’s Family Scavenger Hunt, both presented by Heidi Geiselman to the Symposium schedule, and we looked at the downing of the airship USS Akron on April 4th, 2016.

Tuesday, April 5th, 2016 Dutch explorer Jacob Roggeveen “discovered” Easter Island in 1722, we added Twisted Skies Demo and Cigar Nerds Podcast to the Symposium schedule, and brought you the April 2016 monthly report from the Cincinnati Steampunk Salon.

Wednesday, April 6th, 2016 saw the anniversary of April 6th, 1866 when the Grand Army of the Republic, an American patriotic organization composed of Union veterans of the American Civil War, was founded, we added the Steampunk Symposium Pocket Schedule for people to download, Chris Pavesic looked at unique hotel roomsand we added Cigars 101 presented by Joe Harris & Brad Jackson to the Symposium line-up.

Thursday, April 7th, 2016, and on that day in 1922 we the eruption of the Teapot Dome Scandal, we added the Scavenger Hunt AND Beer & Wine Tasting at Jungle Jim’s and Teslacon Preview to the schedule for the Symposium, and Stixen Stones and M. Leigh Hood brought us their review of Batman Vs. Superman.

Friday, April 8th, 2016 was the anniversary of the Black Hawk War in 1832, we added The Jabberwocky: An Interactive Theatrical Experience presented by Quill to the Symposium Schedule, and CaelynTek brought us the April Steampunk Salon Report from the Richmond Steampunk Society in Virginia. 

Saturday, April 9th, 2016 marked 155 years since the Oldest Voice Recording, and we got the first of our Symposium reports from Katie Lynn Daniels on Teapot Racing.

Sunday, April 10th, 2016 and on that same day in 1904 English occultist Aleister Crowley completed his infamous The Book of the LawM. Leigh Hood reported from the Symposium on Dr. Pembroke’s live presentation of macabre Victorian medicine, and then it should have been the Sunday Summary 🙁


Monday, April 11th, 2016 was 108 years after Germany launched the SMS Blücher, the last armored cruiser built by the German Empire, Katie Lynn Daniels reported on Nerf Dueling at the Symposium, and Chris Pavesic reviewed how Roger Zelazny created a heroic Jack the Ripper.

ISS2016 Airship Race Haremski 1Tuesday, April 12th, 2016 was the anniversary of the Bremen, a German Junkers W 33 type aircraft, taking off for the first successful transatlantic aeroplane flight from east to west, M. Leigh Hood brought us some highlights of upcoming films for nerds and Steampunks alike, and Katie Lynn Daniels reported on the Dirigible Races from this year’s Symposium.

Wednesday, April 13th, 2016 saw a film review by Theo Descartes of Alma, and Katie Lynn Daniels reported on the Umbrella Fencing from this year’s Symposium.

Friday, April 15th, 2016 we got another Symposium report from Katie Lynn Daniels on storytelling with Quill, and we invited you to give us more feedback about this year’s Symposium.

Saturday, April 16th, 2016 marked 104 years since Harriet Quimby, an early American aviator, was the first woman to fly across the English Channel, and we revisited a question regarding The REAL Ninth Doctor Who?

Sunday, April 17th, 2016 we revisited a favorite Babylon 5 character in Calamity Dawn’s overview of Susan Ivanovaand then it was time for the Sunday Summary 🙂


Coming Next Week . . .

. . . things return to relative normality, but considering that we don’t know much about this normal thing then that could mean anything 😛
