Event Rules & Policies

Event policies for the International Steampunk Symposium, Pandoracon, and other Pandora Society events.

Ten Simple Guidelines

For the comfort and safety of all attending the event, please abide by these common sense rules:

1. You must wear your membership badge (or wristband) at all times to be admitted to any event functions.

2. Possession of alcoholic beverages by anyone under 21 years of age is grounds for expulsion from the event without refund.

3. Please keep all behavior that polite attendees would find publicly offensive in your hotel rooms.

4. International Steampunk Symposium LLC, Pandoracon LCC, The Pandora Society LLC, and Associates are not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged property, or for injuries sustained during the course of the event.

5. Announced events and guests are subject to change and/or cancellation without notice. Every effort will be made to announce any changes via the internet and pre-event publications but sometimes last-minute changes will occur.

6. We reserve the right to ask you to leave the event and refuse refund if you are behaving in a manner that violates our policies.

7. Abide by our weapons policy (see below).

8. No horseplay in the common areas. Any weapon used in an offensive manner will be confiscated and rule #6 enforced.

9. Do not abuse the event facilities or staff. Room Parties and other announcements may be dropped off at our Information Desk.

10. Wear appropriate clothing in the common areas; nudity needs to remain in hotel guest rooms.

Anti-Harassment Policy

the International Steampunk Symposium, Pandoracon, and other Pandora Society event planners want these events to be a safe, enjoyable convention for everyone. To this end, everyone with an event badge (or wristband) is required to abide by this code of conduct.

International Steampunk Symposium LLC, Pandoracon LCC, and The Pandora Society LLC have a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for harassment. Harassment is generally any behavior that annoys, alarms, or threatens another person or group of any kind, including but not limited to:

  • Stalking
  • offensive verbal comments
  • non-consensual photography
  • unwelcome physical attention
  • intimidation
  • physical assault and/or battery

In relation to, but not limited to:

  • Race
  • Color
  • National Origin
  • Gender
  • Gender Identity
  • Gender Presentation
  • Sexual Orientation
  • Age
  • Body Size
  • Disability
  • Appearance
  • Religion
  • Citizenship
  • Pregnancy

Our policy applies to EVERYONE at the convention. Exhibitors, entertainers, attendees, speakers, guests, professionals, press, staff, volunteers and security are all subject to our anti-harassment policy and will be held to the same standards and disciplinary action.

Harassment of convention members online or in electronic venues will be treated as seriously as physical harassment.

If a person engages in harassing behavior The Pandora Society event staff will take prompt action in any form they deem appropriate, including expulsion from the event with no refund and may result in expulsion and/or long term suspension of your future eligibility for International Steampunk Symposium LLC, Pandoracon LCC, and The Pandora Society LLC events.

Anyone can report harassment. If someone’s behavior has made you uncomfortable you should immediately contact a member of ISS staff or security team or call our hotline 984-NO Harm 0 (984-664-2760) and someone will meet you. If necessary we will provide escort, offer a safe place and assist anyone experiencing harassment to make sure they are and feel safe for the entirety of the event. We will also contact local law enforcement if it is necessary and stay with you until they arrive.

In all cases where someone has told you or demonstrated that they do not wish to interact with you, do not contact them in any fashion, including through an intermediary, unless and until they approach you of their own initiative. Just as you do not owe anyone your time, your attention, or physical contact, no one owes you theirs.

If you wish to report an incident after the event, or would like to express your concern about an incident that occurred outside of the event involving a convention attendee, you may email our anti-harassment committee (noharm@thepandorasociety.com) at anytime.

We want everyone to have a fun, enjoyable and entertaining event.
