Midsummer Masquerade 2017 – FAQ

Hopefully everyone is ready for this year’s Midsummer Masquerade! We’re finalizing entertainment, getting prizes lined up for the costume contests, and squaring away final details with the venue and vendors for this year’s big Masquerade.

Some questions have popped up, so I’ve decided to consolidate them all in one spot.

  • Q: When does the event start?
  • A: Gates will open at 7:00. Atmosphere entertainment starts at 7:15, and the Ballroom Dancing starts at 7:45.
  • Q: I heard there was a big concert at Riverbend. Will there be a place to park? Do I have to pay?
  • A: Coney Island has reserved spots for Midsummer Masquerade attendees to park. There is no additional cost. When you arrive, enter Gate 1, tell the attendant you are there for the Masquerade, and park in the West lot. From there, follow signs to Moonlite Gardens. There WILL be additional traffic (often backing up to the highway) due to the concert, so allow extra time to get to Coney Island.
  • Q: The weather forecast keeps changing, what if it rains?
  • A: The event is rain or shine. It will not be canceled barring dangerous conditions such as lightning storms. Over half of the venue is under cover, including the stage, the vendor area, and the bar and dining areas. In the past, it has rained, but people had great fun dancing in the rain!
  • Q: What is the dress code?
  • A: There is no official dress code. People come dressed as fairies or other fantasy creatures, in renaissance festival garb, steampunk costumes, modern formal wear, and even street clothes. One thing to note: The event is outdoors, and the forecast is predicting highs in the 90s, so dress for comfort.
  • Q: What is the age limit
  • A: 16 and up to get into the event. If you plan on drinking, please bring your ID. Coney Island is in charge of checking them for alcohol sales.
  • Q: How much are tickets at the gate? Can I pay with a credit card?
  • A: Tickets are $20 at the gate, and we will have a Square reader to accept credit cards. You can purchase pre-sale tickets online through Friday at Midnight.
