Today we present to you the ninth of our entries for the Goggles, Guns, & Gadgets contest, the Telephonic of Mobility created by Gary Barclay (aka “Steampunk Spock” or “Spockula Werewolf Hunter”).

Telephonic 1

You have heard of a telegraph. Well, this is the “telephonic of mobility”. It has advanced technology. Notice that there are no wires. It has its own power source. One can simply turn the crank to create an electromagnetic field to power it. Then simply lift the receiver (ear phone) from the fork of the switch hook protruding to the side and speak into the mouth piece (transmitter).

Telephonic 3

The body is a baby monitor. The crank is from a pepper grinder that I have used Quicksteel putty to attach it with and I used JB Wield to attach a wooden bead to the handle. The mouth piece (transmitter) is a baby’s hammer that I have removed the domed center and used JB Wield to attach it. The receiver (ear phone) is the salt shaker that went along with the pepper grinder. I removed the bottom of the salt shaker and drilled a hole in it to attach a shoe string to act as a phone cord. The fork of the switch hook protruding to the side of the stand is a brass closet rod flange that I have attached to a piece of wood and used Quicksteel putty to attach it to the phone body. I cut a clothes hanger and put it down the center of the antenna, wrapped a copper electrical wire in between the coils and attached a brass part from a broken watch to the top. I spray painted it gold and black.
